The
Shamwari Game Reserve is Africa's most successful conservation
project stretching across 18,000 hectares of land and spanning

Shamwari is an African dream of a holiday
offering you a multitude of plant, animal and birdlife,
the very soul of an untamed African continent, along with
the most luxurious means of experiencing your safari holiday.
The Reserve provides modern Land Rovers converted into
open viewing. Each vehicle has a trained ranger who, along
with skilled service staff, will ensure you have a most
memorable adventure The rangers are in constant communication
at all times, so on any day they know where the game is,
and how to find an abundance of animals such as the rare
Black Rhino.
The Evening Game Drive leaves
between 4:00pm to 5:00pm At dusk, Game Rangers will stop
at magnificent panoramic areas to view the beautiful African
bush sunset. Your Ranger will point out the nocturnal
animals on the Reserve while using hand-held lights.
After the game drives guests can swim in one of the two
pools, enjoy a drink at
the pool bar or even play an invigorating game of tennis
on the floodlit court. If, however, you just want to relax
just laze around one of the swimming pool patios or in
the beautifully appointed garden lounge. A small gym
and steambath is also available for the guests.
African curios and branded clothing is sold at the curio
shop.
In keeping with it's conservation policy, Shamwari has
a complete wildlife research team as well as it's own
anti poaching unit, ensuring an ecological balance prevails
on this reclaimed piece of wilderness. Together with the
Born Free Foundation, Shamwari Game Reserve rescues big
cats and other animals from impossible circumstances.
The Shamwari-Born Free Conservation
and Education Centres is located in the southern
area, next to Kaya Lendaba, an African Arts and Culture
Village.
Safari Walks are available
with your own personal ranger to guide you through the
African bush sharing his knowledge of the fauna and flora.
Avid bird-watchers can view the birds and other wildlife
on the walk or from their lodge verandah.
Weddings at Shamwari Game
Reserve are small and intimate and very special. The professional
reservations and events team will organise the venue and
all the arrangements including the Minister, flowers,
wedding cake, champagne, photography and wedding video.
You can choose to be married in the beautiful garden at
Long Lee Manor, The Barn or at any of the lodges on the
reserve.
The bush lapa is ideal for
a wedding with an African feel with the local choir singing
African wedding songs during the ceremony or reception.
After exchanging vows, have a romantic meal together,
or a small reception at one of the lodges, the bush lapa
or at The Barn. The wedding couple are accommodated in
the Honeymoon Suite at Long Lee Manor, or at any of the
other romantic rooms.. |

Shamwari
Game Reserve is the southernmost, big game, private reserve

Long Lee Manor
Long Lee Manor is a reminder of an era of gracious living
- positioned as the flagship of Shamwari - it overlooks
the sweeping plains leading down to the Bushmans River.
Built in 1910, this Edwardian Manor House offers a distinctive
colonial experience with refined comfort, congenial service
and enticing cuisine.
The accommodation consists of 38 bedrooms, all with en-suite
bathrooms. There are 2 swimming pools, a flood-lit tennis
court, private airstrip, curio shop, private conference
facility and your own personal Ranger. All the guest rooms
feature satellite TV, air-conditioning or ceiling fans,
under floor heating, and international direct dial. |

Eagles Cragg Lodge
Eagles Cragg Lodge has been totally refurbished and now
offers a fully inclusive service, complete with your own
game ranger and chef. Located in the centre of the reserve,
with animals virtually on your doorstep, the lodge has
four separate double suites available for individuals,
small groups or families. Each suite has a private outdoor
shower with a magnificent vista overlooking the reserve.
There is an outdoor swimming pool and large verandah.

Lobengula Lodge
Lobengula Lodge offers a five-star graded, ethnically
decorated, traditional African experience. The lodge has
five double en-suite bedrooms and includes the Presidential
Suite. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, have under
floor heating, and international direct dial.
Tucked deep in the valley bushveld, this thatched, tranquil,
luxurious and exclusive Lodge has a magnificent wooden
deck overlooking the Game Reserve, which is beautifully
appointed and ideal for open-air dining or relaxing in
front of the fireplace. Lobengula Lodge also has a small
gym, sauna, wine cellar, curio shop and swimming pool
with sunken cocktail bar.
The Presidential Suite within Lobengula Lodge has five,
beautifully appointed, double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
This air-conditioned and under floor heated Suite, also
includes a private lounge with fireplace.

Highfield lodge
Highfield lodge is an 1820 settler lodge which has been
totally refurbished. The lodge is located in the centre
of the reserve where it's not unusual to discover rhino
and other animals grazing just outside.
Accommodation consists of four twin rooms, all with en-suite
bathrooms, available for individuals or small groups or
families, with fully inclusive service. Highfield Lodge,
complete with your own game ranger and chef, has a charming
lounge and a refreshing plunge pool for hot summer days
with barbecue style meals served either in the dining
room or on the verandah. |
Riverdene Lodge
Riverdene Lodge is the latest addition and consists of
nine twin rooms, and sleeps 18 guests in total. Rooms
are fully air-conditioned, with a small lounge area, television
and telephone. Each en-suite bathroom has a separate shower
and bath. Two elegantly furnished casual lounges make
up the public area with a rim flow swimming pool plus
sun deck and poolside bar. The dining room opens onto
a spacious outdoor barbecue area. |

Bushmans River
Lodge
Bushmans River Lodge is located along the Bushmans River
with spectacular views. The Lodge is a unique historical
site that has been beautifully restored and totally refurbished,
it now offers a fully inclusive service complete with
your own game ranger and chef.
The accommodation, for individuals, small groups or families,
is beautifully decorated in an artistic ethnic theme,
a representation of the true uniqueness of Shamwari. The
Lodge has a thatched gazebo which overlooks the reserve.
In winter you can sit in front of a glowing fire in the
lounge. In summer cool down in the delightful plunge pool
before you retire to one of the four deluxe en-suite bedrooms.

After a game drive guests can
relax, swim or enjoy a drink at the pool bar before dinner.
The main dining room prepares sumptuous evening meals which
are served under the star-studded sky at the Palm Court or around
the open blazing fire at the Barn.

You can dine on the wooden deck at Lobengula Lodge which
serves lavish meals for guests with discerning palettes.
The Wooden Deck offers a selection of fine South African
wines from its cellar and well-trained staff ensure a
quality of service and satisfaction.
This magnificent, beautifully appointed restaurant overlooks
the dense African bush and is ideal for meals or after
dinner African mystical story-telling in front of the
fireplace.

The Riverdene Lodge dining room opens onto a spacious outdoor
barbecue area. As with all the lodges at Shamwari, guests will
receive personal attention from the Lodges own assigned chef
and staff. They all serve barbecue style meals either in their
dining room or on their verandah. |
