Welcome to Fancourt - a resort in a country that has always
held attraction for travellers. We would like you to enjoy Fancourt's
easy-going atmosphere in which you may learn more about South
Africa and it's multi-faceted culture.
The heart of Fancourt is now the modern clubhouse, but the
old Manor House will always hold its soul. When you visit
the estate spend time in the stillness of the reading room,
walk along the quiet passages.
Imagine life as it was then, with Panama hats and buttonholes,
with grand pianos, campher-wood kists, old silver and wild
mushroom dinners. Imagine you're not alone...

Health & Beauty
Spa
Simply heavenly is the way our guests describe the Health
& Beauty Spa at Fancourt.
With its unique Resort Spa facilities, this complete facility
offers both guests and day visitors a complete range of
refreshing and revitalising treatments that will leave
you feeling utterly relaxed.
Facilities
In planning our Health & Beauty Spa, we have taken
our starting cue from the Romans.
You can spend hours relaxing in our heated indoor Roman
Bath, preparing yourself fully for the many other Fancourt
health and beauty experiences.
The Roman Bath is among several complimentary facilities
at our resort.
Others are the stairmasters, treadmills, electronic cycles,
Technogym fitness equipment, saunas, steam rooms, plunge
pools, robes and toiletries. |
Shopping at Chèrot Boutique
Three of South Africa's top designers have brought exclusive
designer wear to Chèrot. Gert van de Merwe, Jenni Button
(under the Philosophy label) and Hip Hop's fabulous day and
evening wear - each with its own distinctive style, which
caters for all reasons and seasons, is now available.
The showing of their ranges at the glittering opening of
the Chèrot boutique created huge excitement among Southern
Cape fashionistas who previously had to go to either Cape
Town or Johannesburg to access designer wear for special occasions.
The brainchild of Fancourt's owner Sabine Plattner, the boutique
in the past stocked mainly resort wear and top of the range
imported clothing, bags and shoes - but will now showcase
some of South Africa's top haute couture.
Hair
Salon
Our Health and Beauty Spa houses a professional hair dressing
salon.
Resident stylist Pat Adams uses leading brands for his wide
array of treatments.
Conference and Business Centre
At Fancourt, we pride ourselves on offering facilities of
unsurpassed standard and our Conference and Business Centre
is no exception. From state of the art audio visual and computerised
facilities to our fully-equipped business centre, elegant
private meeting rooms and 350-seater banqueting hall, Fancourt
is your perfect venue offering comfort well beyond the convention.
An impressive entrance foyer with its own bar facilities
allows for elegant tea and coffee breaks, cocktails or pre-banquet
drinks. There is an upstairs terrace area overlooking the
Resort and the Outeniqua mountains - ideal for meeting breaks
or a cocktail function.

A combination of Olde Worlde
charm and contemporary luxuries is what makes the Fancourt Hotel
so distinctive.
At Fancourt, guests can choose between a room in the beautifully
restored Manor House or one of the many stately Garden Suites
and Studios, which are all newly refurbished.
Whatever your choice, we can guarantee your holiday or business
stay will be most memorable.
The Manor House
At the Manor House, you will find a restful haven in a
building with a history dating back to the beginnings
of the 19th century:
In 1847 Henry Fancourt White established a workers' base
at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains for the construction
of the Montagu Pass, which you can still travel on. Now
a National Monument, the Manor House with its 34 bedrooms
is situated in a wooded parkland and is the perfect base
for your leisure or conference activities.
- Standard Twin Rooms
- Executive King Rooms
- Deluxe Hotel Suites (double room with lounge/study)

Oaklands
Oaklands recaptures the English origins of nearby George
with rustic thatch roofing, dormer windows and a country
garden.
Like the gracious Fancourt Manor House, Oaklands has its
roots in local history. Just a few minutes drive away
from the 515 hectare Fancourt estate, it dates to the
building of the scenic Montagu Pass in 1849 when it was
owned by the overseer of the labour camp.
The peaceful little complex consists of a main house and
self-contained guest cottage, first a blacksmith's shop
and later served as stables.
The immaculately restored buildings face one another across
a flower-filled garden and swimming pool.
Both are double storey and between them accommodate eight
in ultra luxury.
Original ceiling and floor timbers, some of which are
still in place, are complemented by wooden features such
as oak built-in beds and wall units which enhance the
olde worlde charm of the architecture and setting.
Furnished with character and style, Oaklands' security
system ensures total privacy along with manor house living.
A home away from home, pets, children and all.
While guests have full access to Fancourt and its magnificent
facililties, Oaklands operates independently and it also
has stabling for two horses. |

Glentana
Glentana, stunningly poised high above the Indian Ocean,
offers the ultimate in seclusion, privacy - and luxury,
only 30 minutes from Fancourt.
Looking for total anonymity? Glentana, a romantic timber
lodge on 43 remote hectares on the ocean's edge with only
birds and the surge of the waves breaking the silence,
is the perfect escape.
Perched on the clifftop between Glentana beach and the
Maalgate River on the rugged Garden Route coastline, Glentana
maintains Fancourt's world-renowned standards of excellence
and symbolizes the vision of its owners Sabine and Hasso
Plattner to add exciting new dimensions to tourism in
South Africa.
In contrast to the rough terrain the lodge is relaxing
and very comfortable. Blue dominates in the elegant decor
to reflect the ocean view which extends to the horizon.
Picture wall charts remind that dolphins and whales are
likely to disport themselves in the waters below.
Designed with more than honeymooners in mind - there is
one cosy double bedroom - the spacious proportions of
the living area can accommodate one-day executive think
tanks for highly private corporate decisions in ultra
comfort.
In addition to an extensive lounge, a covered verandah
deck with outdoor seating runs along two sides of the
building. There are two showers and toilets, a well-equipped
kitchen (which Fancourt will stock in advance) and gas-generated
power.
A private, small golden beach is accessed by a wooden
stairway of 200 steps. |
