Private
nature reserve on edge of indigenous forest with breathtaking
views of surrounding valleys and mountains. Well known for its
outstanding cuisine, African decor, style & personalised
attention.
Lush indigenous vegetation and forests framed by majestic mountain
ranges on the one side and the Indian Ocean with its pristine
white beaches on the other, makes the Garden Route, situated
along the East coast of Southern Africa, one of the most beautiful
parts of South Africa.
Hog Hollow Country Lodge, a private nature reserve, is situated
18km East of the small coastal town of Plettenberg Bay in the
heart of this magnificent area, providing guests with an ideal
base to explore the Garden Route.
The main house also includes two lounge areas; one leading out
to the sun drenched pool area, whilst the other offers the privacy
of a leafy garden vista, ideal for reading. |

Attractions nearby are surprisingly
diverse and range from guided walks, to bird watching,
mountain biking and horse riding trails in the surrounding
forests and fynbos.
The highest bungy jump in the world (216 meters) is 15
minutes drive away, there is sea kayaking in the
bay as well as the opportunity to explore Robberg and
Stormsriver Mouth Nature Reserves.
The area also boasts a local arts and crafts route whilst
the popular town of Knysna is a 40 minute drive away.
A unique and exciting feature of this area is the abundance
of marine mammals. Guests can enjoy the thrill of a boat-based
whale and dolphin watching experience or get a different
perspective by doing a scenic glider flight around the
bay.
The Cats Walk is a magnificent one hour walk leading from
Hog Hollow through the indigenous forest, down into the
Matjes River Gorge and up again on the other side to the
entrance of Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary where, after
a guided tour of the sanctuary, guests can enjoy a light
lunch. We arrange to bring your car to Monkeyland, so
that when you have finished your tour, you have the flexibility
to move on to your next exciting activity.
For those who wish to spend some tranquil time appreciating
nature, a sun- dappled stream runs through the gorge and
provides cool shelter amongst the forest ferns and ancient
indigenous trees. |
