Our 37 luxury rooms and suites are all air-conditioned and offer

We have two swimming pools, one of which is heated, and both
visually flow into the ocean below.
Our adjoining Beach House is decorated with simplicity and
crisp elegance in natural creams and blues and has it’s
own sparkling swimming pool.

bay from the hotel terraces. For the more adventurous there
are numerous excursions and activities within close proximity
to the hotel.

At the turn of the century,
the original hotel building was a beach house belonging to the
Thesen Family of Knysna.
Today the Plettenberg consists of two buildings with equally
spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua Mountains.
Our two swimming pools visually flow into the ocean and miles
of pristine beaches are just two minutes away.
Enjoy breakfast in our sunroom, whilst watching dolphins
at play and migrant whales during the winter months.

From the airport take the N2 highway heading east - towards
Port Elizabeth.
- Continue on the N2, travelling through the towns of Wilderness,Sedgefield
and Knysna.
- Take the Plettenberg Bay exit at the Shell Ultra City Service
station - turn right into Marine Way.
- Continue on Marine Way until you reach a traffic circle/ roundabout.
- Turn left into Main Road.
- After about 200m`s turn right into Church Street. You will
see a hotel signpost at this intersection.
- The hotel is at the end Church Street - number 40.
- Driving time: 1hr 15mins

- Exit the airport road, turning left and then right
into Robberg Rd.
- Follow Robberg road to the end. At the T-junction
turn right into Piesang River Road.
- At the roundabout/traffic circle, turn left, into
Strand Street.
- Drive across the bridge and up the hill.
- Turn right into Sewell Street
- Turn right into Church Street.
- The hotel is at the end Church Street - number 40.

- From the airport take the N2 highway heading west
towards Cape Town.
- Stay on the N2 for about 240kms, driving through
Humansdorp and Stormsrivier
- On reaching Plettenberg Bay, turn left at the Engen
Service station into Beacon Way.
- Stay on Beacon Way, drive\ing up the hill, where
the road becomes Main Street.
- Turn left into Church Street.
- The hotel is at the end Church Street - number 40.

These rooms have different views -- some with side views
of the sea and some with garden views.

showers, under floor heating and air-conditioning.
8 Standard Double Rooms (also available
for single occupancy)
These standard twin and double bedded rooms offer the same
exceptional style and décor found in the suites and
luxury double rooms but do not have sea views. These rooms
are all air-conditioned.
The Beach House
The Beach House at The Plettenberg is the latest addition
to this superb Relais & Chateaux property, overlooking
miles of golden sand and sea, with magnificent views of the
distant Tsitsikamma mountains.
Decorated with simplicity and crisp elegance in natural creams
and blues, it provides the ideal, intimate and relaxed getaway,
whilst maintaining all the benefits and services available
from the main hotel.
The Beach House features two en-suite bedrooms, with the
main bedroom opening onto a wooden sundeck and private swimming
pool. A spacious lounge with an open fireplace provides the
perfect place to relax after a busy day, or escape from the
midday sun. TV and video facilities are provided and the house
is fully air-conditioned.
Special meals can be prepared by our chef, to be enjoyed
in the private dining room, or on the outdoor terrace. A 24
hour butler service is also available.
Complete privacy and attention to detail is the trademark

The restaurant has extended outwards, with a sunny enclosed
terrace, opening onto the outdoor terrace and pool. This provides
spectacular views of the bay and the distant mountains.

The Plettenberg's restaurant was voted one of the country's
top 100 dining establishments in the Diner's Club Annual Awards,
and our team of chefs has won several awards at the annual
Knysna Oyster Festival. Our Executive Chef is Christiaan Campbell.

The Sand is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea. Breakfasts
offer a sumptuous buffet of fresh fruit, cheeses, cold meats,

Our lunch menu offers a variety of light meals, salads and
sandwiches, which can be eaten on the terrace, while watching
dolphins and whales at play in the bay below.
