Fly-fishing
Bring your rod and enjoy an afternoon of fly fishing in
the Dewdale Farm trout dam, not far from La Couronne.
The Farm is beautifully laid out with many dams and a
river. Bookings are advised.
Hiking:
Enjoy a hike through the hills, vales and vineyards surrounding
the hotel, as well as in local reserves.
Horseback riding
Horseback-riding tours can be arranged for you. Riding
stables are located on the neighbouring farm, and are
available hourly. You may wish to enjoy wine tasting whilst
on a horseback trail.
Miscelaneous:
Hang-gliding, hiking, mountain biking, visits to the Huguenot
monument, museums and local nature can all be enjoyed
in the area surrounding Franschhoek.
Shopping, arts and crafts
The village offers a variety of art and craft shops as
well as galleries and antique stores. The goods in our
shop are from Traceys, which is situated
in the village. Should you wish for a wider variety, please
do not hesitate to contact our Front Desk or alternatively
visit the shop itself.
Tours:
A variety of tours may be arranged for you; especially
popular is a tour of the local winelands. In addition
we will gladly arrange Car Hire and Transfers for you.
Wine Experience
Cellar tours may be arranged with various cellars in the
area. We will gladly assist you with our recommendations.

Golf:
South Africa is known for the high standard of its many
golf courses, so why not visit one of the local golf clubs
in Paarl, Stellenbosch or Somerset West. The hotel can
arrange tee-off times for you; booking is vital during
season in order to avoid disappointment.
Swimming
Swimming is available in our soon to be heated outdoor
swimming pool. Those who do not wish to swim may enjoy
sunning themselves on the outdoor loungers beside the
swimming pool or on the banks of the trout dam. |

Directions
from Cape Town to Franschhoek:
- Follow the N1 freeway outbound from Cape Town towards Paarl/Franschhoek.
- Take exit 47, which is sign-posted as the turn-off for Klapmuts/Stellenbosch/Wellington.
- At the bottom of the off-ramp is a stop sign. At this sign,
turn right onto the R44 in the direction of Stellenbosch. On
your left hand side you will pass Butterfly World.
- You will come to a four-way stop. Go straight across this.
- You will then see the R45 which turns off to your left. Turn
left here. This road will take you through an area called Klapmuts.
- Follow this road for some time, taking you past Glen Carlou,
Rupert & Rothschild and later Vrede & Lust wine estates.
You will then cross over a railway line, and find yourself at
a T-junction.
- At this T-junction, turn right (still onto the R45). You will
now drive towards Franschhoek through an area called Simondium.
- On your way you will pass a sign indicating Stellenbosch and
Boschendal, you will also pass LOrmarins wine estate,
and later La Motte wine estate.
- As you enter Franschhoek Village, you will see the La Cotte
Wine and the Franschhoek Information Centre on your left hand
side.
- Turn right into Bordeaux Street and follow the signs to Mont
Rochelle Wine Estate.
- At the entrance to Mont Rochelle you will find signs indicating
the way to La Couronne Hotel.

A deluxe king sized suite with separate lounge and dining
area. This room is the ultimate hotel suite, classically
decorated in light fresh cream shades. This room is the
ideal for long stays where guests which to enjoy home
away from home comforts. The bedroom has a separate dressing
room and bathroom as well as a guest toilet. The private
terrace offers guests a plunge pool as well as a dining
and lounger area. This suite boasts the most magnificent
views. Bedroom facilities include underfloor heating,
airconditioning, hairdryer, safe, two televisions, dvd
player, mini bar and tea & coffee facility.
1 x Reserve Suite
A luxury king sized suite with a separate living area.
The bedroom has a separate dressing room and bathroom
with guest toilet. The private terrace offers guests a
plunge pool as well as a dining and lounger area. Décor
is modern with a touch of Africa. Black bathroom finishes,
leather couches, and interesting spots throughout the
room, make this one a must see. Bedroom facilities include

6 x Cabernet Rooms
Large king rooms with private terraces with spectacular
views of the vineyards and surrounding mountains. These
individual terraces will offer guests the possibility
to relax on loungers in privacy. The rooms are spacious
and decorated in bright African greens, oranges and brown
tones. Bedroom facilities include underfloor heating,
airconditioning, hairdryers, safes and televisions, dvd
player, mini bars and tea & coffee facilities.
1 x Pinotage Suite
This junior suite can be configured as either a king or
twin room. The bathroom offers guests a separate bath
and shower, underfloor heating, heated towel warmer as
well as a separate guest toilet. The bedroom has classical
décor with floral red touches to liven and accentuate
the cream fabrics and dark wood finishes. Facilities include
underfloor heating, airconditioning, hairdryer, safe,
television, dvd player, mini bar and tea & coffee
facility. A large separate lounge offers guest the opportunity
to relax beside the fire as well as watch television.
The sleeper couch in the lounge makes this room the perfect
one for a family. Valley views can be enjoyed from the
bedroom. Double doors step out of the bedroom into the
hotel gardens; with the beautiful oak tree providing shade
from the hot African sun.
6 x Merlot Rooms
These spacious rooms have the ability to be configured
as either king or twin rooms. They have prime views of
the Franschhoek Valley and the surrounding vineyards.
The bathrooms offer guests a separate bath and shower,
underfloor heating and a heated towel warmer. The bedrooms
are all individually decorated; with décor ranging
from classical to Colonial African in style. Bedroom facilities
include underfloor heating, airconditioning, hairdryers,

One of the Merlot Rooms is suitable for an extra bed and
or cot.
4 x Shiraz Rooms
These rooms have the ability to be configured as either
king or twin rooms. They have lovely views of the Franschhoek
Valley and the surrounding vineyards. The bathrooms offer
guests a separate bath and shower, underfloor heating
and a heated towel warmer. The bedrooms are all individually
decorated in a Colonial African in style. Bedroom facilities
include underfloor heating, airconditioning, hairdryers,
safes, tea & coffee and televisions facilities. One
of the Shiraz Rooms is suitable for an extra bed and or
cot.
3 x Chardonnay Rooms
These rooms all vary in size; beds varying from King,
Queen to twin. These rooms do not offer guests prime views
as they face out over the hill behind the hotel. One of
these rooms as no view; however offers guests a beautiful
enclosed private garden. The bathrooms offer guests a
separate bath and shower, underfloor heating and a heated
towel warmer. The bedrooms are all individually decorated
in a Classical style, using dark woods and soft tones
in the fabrics. Bedroom facilities include underfloor
heating, airconditioning, hairdryers, safes, tea &
coffee and televisions facilities.
2 x Sauvignon Rooms
These are our standard rooms in the hotel. They have Queen
sized beds. Views are beautiful; facing our over the vineyards
and mountains. The bathrooms offer guests a combination
bath and hand-held shower, underfloor heating and a heated
towel warmer. One room is decorated in a Colonial African
styled, while the other has a cheerful classic decor style.

Chef and his team offer you an exciting dining experience.
The restaurant is open for breakfast (07h00 to 11h00), lunch
(12h00 to 14h30) and dinner (18h30 to 21h30). Teas, coffees
and light meals are served from 11h00. Meals are served both
in the restaurant and on the terrace overlooking the Franschhoek
Valley.
Our Colonial Style Wine & Cigar bar offers you the opportunity
to unwind and enjoy a drink or light meal while taking in your
surroundings.
Picnic baskets are available to in-house guests, as are poolside
service and in room dining. |
