Fish River Sun Golf Course
Fish River is a good golfing layout, albeit more than
a bit windblown at times during the year, and an ideal
stopover between East London and Port Elizabeth. Close
to the beach, but seperated by high dunes, on a nice
calm day it's a gem to play. It's always had a reputation
as one of the best-conditioned courses in the region.
The course is long and challenging and you will have
to be on top of your game to score well. Water comes
into play on a number of holes and you even have to
cross the Old Woman's River twice by raft to get to
your ball, once with the tee shot on No.13, coming back
with an approach to the 16th. One of the feature holes
at Fish River is the 12th, a long par-5 that curves
around a bend in the river. The only other water hazards
are on the 5th and the par-three 8th.
The fairways are bordered by the natural thick coastal
vegetation and high rolling dunes, that are common to
the area. Great care was taken not to disturb the vegetation,
especially the Euphorbia trees found on several of the
holes. This course has many doglegs and well-positioned
bunkers that guard both fairway and greens.

The club is 30 kilometres from Port Alfred, in the
