Selbourne
Golf Club
The South African equivalent to Augusta National in Georgia,
USA. Since it's completion in 1987, the golf course has
matured into one of the most aesthetically attractive
in South Africa. It is a challenging test of golf with
water features coming into play on just about every hole
and with the Indian Ocean as a spectacular backdrop. Selbourne
has developed an excellent reputation amongst the overseas
golfing fraternity both for it's challenge and for the
high standard at which it is maintained.
The golf course terrain is hilly and winds through natural
coastal bush and forest. The sloping gradient rewards
the well-placed shot and challenges the professional and
amateur alike with uphill and downhill shots. Fairways
are guarded by trees, thick bush and irregular rough and
challenge you to drive straight. Large greens are straight
and true! This course achieves good balance with a mixture
of short and long holes.
The signature hole is the Par 5 third where the fairways
wind through a downhill avenue and are well protected
by trees and thick bush. The green is well protected by
water on three sides and a bunker. There are water features
on the 15 and 18 holes. There is a resident golf professional
available for those who need to brush up on some of their
skills.
The Selborne Hotel and Spa facilities are just the antidote
to the stresses and strains of modern day living (or after
a long day on the golf course). Pamper yourself with one
of the many therapy suites or take in the
rays at the private beach club.
