Wild
Coast Sun
A truly memorable golf course. World-renowned golf course
architect - Robert Trent Jones - has used the dramatic
coastal setting to maximum effect, designing an interesting
and challenging course with some unforgettable features.
An extraordinary experience for the golfer because of
the incredible natural beauty of the surroundings in which
he or she plays here. The fairways are wide and generous
but the penalties can be severe if you miss. Virtually
every hole is a gem which will linger in the memory long
after the round is over.
The Wild Coast Sun Country Club course presents an exciting
and worthwhile golfing challenge, at the same time allowing
one to experience truly spectacular views of the sea and
countryside. The fairways are wide and while the course
has many memorable holes, the 12th is probably the most
breathtaking hole in Africa. This par five is played from
an elevated tee down to a fairway which cuts through the
valley and then rises again to an elevated green.
The immaculate greens are closely guarded by 59 bunkers
and have a magnetic pull towards them especially when
the wind blows - which it often does, placing an extra
premium on stroke play! There are six par threes but two
of these don't have fairways from tee to green, just a
very threatening gorge. The par-five 12th signature hole
plays from elevated tee to elevated green. There is always
the temptation to take on more of the river and get a
better shot to the green. Be warned, there is a stream
on the left and a bushy hill on the right!
Location
The club is about a 90-minute drive from Durban if

just after you have crossed the Umtamvuna River bridge.
