Goose Valley Golf Club
This superb nine-hole course was designed by Gary Player
around his holiday home in Plettenberg Bay. The course
is a splendid layout with immaculate fairways and first-class
greens to compliment the visual splendour of the natural
environment. An added bonus, is the off course experience
you will receive in the clubhouse, both from management
and catering staff. Watch out for the signboards advising
you that this is a protected nature reserve containing
snakes and golf balls straying off the designated golf
course areas are to be declared lost!
The Goose Valley Golf Course is just as beautiful and
needs to coerce no one to be nice about the course. The
setting is magnificent - alongside the sea with the mountains
as a backdrop - and each hole is a pleasure to play. As
Gary Player says, the test is that when you have finished
your eighteen holes, you want to come back and play again.
Indeed, yes!
The Golf Club opened officially on 27 April 2003. It had
been a nine hole course for some years prior to that,
which did not really count. By the end of 2002 a fully
re-designed eighteen holes had been finished, and by the
end of April the course was, to say the least, in great
shape. The ebullient Gary Player confirmed: "One
does not get better conditioned fairways, bunkers and
greens. House-keeping is reaching the standard which a
club of this standing expects."
Club Regulations
Appropriate golf attire and soft spikes are required on
the golf course. No Handicap is required unless you are
entering a competition.
