Welcome to the De Zalze Golf Estate, the home of the De Zalze Golf Course.
Here we will host the World Amateur Championships (WATC) "Eisenhower Trophy in 2006.
The 300 hectar Wineland and Golf Estate offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy onsite wine tasting, Golf Lodges at Kleine Zalze, first class dining at Kleine Zalze's Restaurant Terroir and superb service at our spectacular Club house.
This Golf Estate has proven one of the most sought after golf estate real estate investments in South Africa, having achieved record sales since 2002.
The De Zalze Golf Course situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate was designed by Peter Matkovich [ course architect of Leopard Rock and Arabella ] who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy.
The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.
The golf course, open since 2000 with the brand new Cape styled thatch clubhouse [opened December 2003] is an exciting addition to the group of international standard championship golf courses recently built in the Western Cape region of South Africa.
The De Zalze Golf Course [ co-developed & managed by Spier ] has already hosted a number of championship events and will together with the Spier resort be the host venue for the 2006 World Amateur Team Championships [ Eisenhower and Esporito Santo trophies ] which will attract teams from approx 80 countries around the globe.
The name De Zalze originates from the early wine farmers who produced wines on the three farms making up De Zalze, namely, Groote Zalze, Kleine Zalze & De Vleie. There are historical buildings on the estate dating back to 1838 as well as a manor house and precinct. In 2000 the Spier group purchased an interest in the property and together with Kleine Zalze have re-modelled the estate into one of the most sought after golf real estate properties in the Cape Winelands of South Africa. The estate boasts a working wine farm [ Kleine Zalze ] as well as fairways surrounded by vineyards, olive groves & lavender fields, which will all produce marketable crops for the estate.
De Zalze Golf Club welcomes visiting golfers from around the globe and is geared to provide an exceptional experience from the moment you arrive. After your round of golf you may be tempted to relax on the open scenic terrace and enjoy a delicious meal together with a selection of some fine wines from both Spier and Kleine Zalze, two of the regions premier wine producers.

The golfers lounge is decorated in a casual but elegant style and is complimented by an attractive bar which stocks fine wines and spirits as well as a good selection of Single Malt Whiskies.

Golf Lifestyle Shop
This is our version of the 'pro shop'. A lovely clothing range featuring the leading brands together with other gift items and golfers accessories etc. Included is a unique range of hand painted table linen & accessories using olives, lavender, grapes and golfers motifs.

It is located adjacent to the club lounge serving a quick & tasty selection of light snacks and beverages.

Locker Rooms
Both the ladies and gents lockers rooms are fitted with individual lockable cupboards to store your personal possessions whilst out on the course, and generous showers and facilities to make your visit enjoyable.

Golf Carts
We have a new fleet of Mizuno golf carts which can be pre-booked for those who enjoy to drive the course.

Club Hire
We stock sets of Mizuno golf clubs in both gents and ladies as well as left hand sets.

They are available for hire.
Visitor's Policy
General
Visitors are most welcome at De Zalze Golf Club and have full use of the club facilities when they are here to play golf.
Bookings
Booking is advisable to ensure a suitable tee time. All visitors are required to provide the club with the full necessary particulars when making a booking. All group booking details to be agreed and accepted in advance.
Tee Off Times
- Summer We use a two tee start, 1st and 10th tees. Weekdays 07h30 to 09h06 and 12h00 to 14h00 Weekends 07h00 to 09h00 and 12h00 to 14h00
- Winter We use a 'one tee' start off the 1st tee from 08h00 - Monday to Sunday.
Other Info
In the interests of all golfers using the facilities we ask you to strictly adhere to the playing rules and the etiquette of golf. Our course marshals are there to assist you and to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience. Please obey them at all times.
Sandbags/bottles are compulsory, please fill all divots with sand on all fairways and tees.
Pitch Marks on greens, please ensure that these are repaired on arrival at the green.
Dress Code
De Zalze Golf Club respects and upholds the traditions of golf and in that respect requests that all golfers and visitors to the golf course and clubhouse obey our dress code as follows;
. On the golf course - Standard acceptable golf dress for both men and ladies. This excludes any t-shirts, denim jeans, beach baggies, running & rugby/soccer shorts etc. Sleeveless shirts for ladies only. If unsure please enquire beforehand at registration / cash desk.
. In the Clubhouse - a minimum of smart casual at all times. Long trousers in the clubhouse lounge and bar areas after sunset.
. Footwear - Only proper golf shoes with soft spikes on the course. No trainers / running shoes. No 'slip slops' in the clubhouse areas. We thank you for your kind understanding.
